Floris Wubben lets the clay crack during extrusion and turns that accident into the entire point. The Saw Collection has this raw, almost geological quality — sharp edges glazed smooth. It's confrontational and beautiful at the same time. The pressure and friction generated during the extrusion process cause the clay to crack—a feature that Floris Wubben embraces as part of his design approach. This technique gave rise to the Saw Collection, a series of stoneware lamps, vases, and wall sculptures. These sharp and whimsical forms are finished with a lavish glaze just before firing, creating a striking contrast between their jagged edges and smooth surfaces.
